Letter of Clearance

What is a letter of clearance?

A letter of clearance is an official document generated by our office when a resident license has been cancelled to verify the license history and status.

These are requested when a resident licensee moves to another state and the licensee's new home state requires verification from our office regarding their Washington-state license history.

How do I request a letter of clearance?

    • Please submit a written request that includes the licensee name, WAOIC number, a valid mailing address, and dated signature.
    • The request may be faxed or emailed to us.
    • There is no fee for a letter of clearance.
    • Requests for letters of clearance are generally processed within three days of receipt.
Requesting a letter of clearance will cancel your license.
