How do I get my license?

Follow the steps below to complete your online application.

Please Note: All licensing processes must be completed online with only a few exceptions

 

License type and fees Steps

Producer - full lines: life, disability (health), property, casualty or personal lines

 

 

Fees

  1. Complete your pre-licensing education (PLE)
  2. Schedule and pass your exam (PearsonVue)
  3. Apply for your license online
    Tip: Have your exam score report(s) ready. You'll need to attach electronically or mail to us.
  4. Submit your fingerprint card

Producer - limited Lines: surety, credit or travel

 

 

Fees

  1. Schedule and pass your exam (surety or credit only) (PearsonVue)
  2. Apply for your license online
    Tip: Have your exam score report ready. You'll need to attach it electronically or mail it in.
  3. Submit your fingerprint card

Crop adjuster

 

 

 

Fees

  1. Determine which type of crop losses you will be adjusting
  2. Apply for your license online
    Tip: Have your WA exam score report OR your current CAPP certification card ready. You'll need to attach whichever is applicable electronically or mail it in.
  3. Submit your fingerprint card.

Independent adjuster

  1. Meet the experience and education requirements
  2. Schedule and pass your exam (PearsonVue)
  3. Apply for your license online
    Tip: Have your proof of experience and exam score report ready. You'll need to attach them electronically or mail them in.
  4. Submit your fingerprint card

Public adjuster

 

 

 

 

Fees

  1. Meet the experience and education requirements
  2. Schedule and pass your exam (PearsonVue)
  3. Apply for your license online
    Tip: Have your proof of experience, exam score report and bond information (PDF, 18KB) ready. You'll need to attach them electronically or mail them in.
  4. Submit your fingerprint card

Surplus line broker

Surplus line policy data must be submitted to the Surplus Line Association of Washington on a monthly basis.

 

Fees

  1. Hold a property and casualty producer license
    Tip: If you don't already have a property and casualty producer license, you may apply for it at the same time you apply for a surplus line broker license.
  2. Schedule and pass your exam (PearsonVue)
  3. Apply for your license online
    Tip: Have your exam score report ready. You'll need to attach it electronically or mail it in.

Life settlement broker

  1. Meet the one year Life line of authority producer license requirement
  2. Apply for your license online
