How to get health insurance

Does your employer offer health insurance?

Employers aren't required to offer their employees health insurance. If yours does, they'll provide you with plan information.

They can choose to cover just their employees or their employees' dependents -- including domestic partners.

You'll either pay a portion of the premium or the entire premium.

If you're employer lays you off, you might be able to keep your employer's plan through a federal law, called COBRA.
