Long-term care

Long-term care refers to a wide range of medical, personal and social services you may need if you have a prolonged illness or disability. The care may include help with daily activities of living, such as dressing, bathing, eating, or using the bathroom. The care may be provided at home, in a nursing home, adult daycare center or group-living facility.

Medicare does NOT cover these ongoing non-medical services.  Medicaid does, but it’s becoming harder for middle-income people to qualify. Most people needing long-term care pay cash or buy long-term care insurance.
