If a natural disaster damages your home, you should first try to protect it and the things you own from more damage. Then call your insurer to start filing claims as soon as possible.
You may need to file claims with more than one insurance company. Homeowner insurance usually doesn't cover floods and earthquakes. Car insurance may cover damaged vehicles – even if the damage happens in a garage or carport. Find out more about filing:
