Insurers must explain premium increases for auto and homeowner policies in Washington under new transparency rules. The rules go into effect in two phases.

Premium change transparency (R 2024-07)

The insurance commissioner is considering rules to delay the implementation date of phase two of the premium change transparency rules until 2029.

Premium change transparency (R 2022-01)

This rule relates to transparency in underwriting by clarifying the scope of insurer responsibility for adverse actions, premiums, rate changes and consumer notices.
