To tell your insurer where to send it, you can complete and send a Confidentiality Request Form (PDF 229.84KB) or call them.
By law, your insurer can't share your information if it's related to services for:
- Reproductive health
- Sexually transmitted diseases
- Substance use disorder
- Gender dysphoria
- Gender-affirming care
- Domestic violence
- Mental health
However, if you don't tell your insurer where to send your information, they'll send it to the address they have on file.
Privacy for people 18 or younger
Under Washington state law, if you're age 18 or younger and old enough to consent to your own health care services, your insurer can't share your personal health information. This includes:
- Mailing bills or Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to people on your plan.
- Calling your home to confirm appointments.
- Mailing appointment notices.
The only exception is if you tell them in writing it's OK.
