OLYMPIA, Wash. – Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler issued a $100,000 fine against Makina Health, an unauthorized insurer based in Texas that was illegally selling employer health insurance plans to small businesses in Washington state. The company has until Nov. 29 to pay the fine.

His order requiring health insurers to waive copays and deductibles for any consumer requiring testing for the coronavirus (COVID-19) and his order protecting consumers from receiving surprise bills for lab fees related to medically necessary diagnostic testing for COVID-19 are both extended until Nov. 29, 2021.
